TAWSF is a non-profit associated established a dozen years ago to raise funds for female students in Turkey who otherwise would not be able to get a university education. Each recipient applies to TAWSF and, if selected, received $100 a month in scholarship funds.

There are usually 4 students that are supported each year. "This reception was so successful in enjoyment and fund-raising that we may be able to support an extra student," said Dr. Ayhan Lash, founder of TAWSF. Members, numbering around 20, hold three or four cultural and social events to raise the necessary funds.
