Graduated
from Darussafaka Private High School
in 1990 and Yildiz Technical
University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Mathematics
in 1996. She came to USA upon an
invitation from her aunt and cousin
to work in her cousin's advertising
agency. She met her husband during
this visit. They love walking their
dog whenever Ebru finds time from
writing lesson plans and grading
papers. Her husband has been an
outside volunteer for Ebru's
efforts regarding both school and
TAWSF; providing services such as
helping with cooking, paperwork,
repairs in her
classroom, brainstorming ideas
about classroom management,
etc. With his experience as a
postal clerk, he knows public
service takes team effort,
tenacity and humility.
Ebru earned
her Masters of Arts in Teaching
degree from National Louis
University in 2003. She started
teaching math in Michele Clark
College Preparatory High School in
2003 and loves it!
She
comes from a family of teachers
(mother, sister,aunt and more)
and she resisted teaching for a
while due to youthful-adolescent
aspirations :) She worked as a
copy-writer in J.Walter Thompson and
Saatchi&Saatchi from 1996
through 1999. Today, her endeavor in
teaching facilitates
experiences that combine
analytical and creative thinking and
applications. Her goal is to have
her students appreciate the use of
real mathematics, which is the art
and language of
thinking.
Ebru is
proud to have received scholarship
from TAWSF during her bachelors in
college. She is also a proud member
of TAWSF. She hopes her
accomplishments set a good model for
the rest of the scholarship
recipients. Her passion for teaching
is oriented from TAWSF's philosophy,
"Hand in Hand for Education" because
she knows her guardian
angels were hand in hand for
her education.
Wherever
there is effort to promote education
by all means, Ebru is
aware that egos must be left at
the door. She first-hand learned
that from her mom and family, who
are her driving forces to lead a
responsible and aimful
life.
